![]() In English Ekocentrum - an independent foundation Ekocentrum is a non-governmental organisation, NGO, with its roots in the Swedish environmental movement. Founded in 1993, Ekocentrum has made a journey from the suburbs of Göteborg into the centre of town, at the Chalmers Technical University area. A self-financed institution, we live up to business standards and offer competitive services to our customers. Unique meeting place We offer a unique meeting spot with soft atmosphere. At Ekocentrum many conferences and seminars are arranged, both for a general audience and specially invited delegates. The building is an old hospital from 1898, eco-renovated in 2003 with a number of “low-tech” solutions and in itself a good example of sustainable renovating. Exemples range from energy saving to water treatment and choices of material. Together we go a long way Cooperation and collaboration with different partners is part of our daily practice. Our guideline is promoting a sustainable society. Aim and purpose – knowledge and inspiration Our visitors, well over 20.000 persons per annum, often take part in our short courses. This special concept at Ekocentrum combines knowledge and inspiration, using a our unique exhibition as illustration of various topics and solutions for sustainability. Permanent exhibition of good examples Rather than focussing on the problems related to climate, pollution etc, the exhibition shows solutions and good examples on how to change the development! This has been the foundation of our vast exhibition, in which numerous companies show their solutions. There are theme rooms featuring energy, transports and logistics, buildings, waste & recycling, water, personal care, consumtion etc. From clean-tech to waste renewal. Technical visits To foreign groups we offer shorter visits from one hour up to several days length. The latter includes site visits in West Sweden. Some groups have specific interest fields, for instance architects or waste management engineers. Others want an overall insight in how we handle the the sustainability issues in Sweden and Göteborg or Malmö. We have welcomed groups from Japan, China, Taiwan, France, England, Russia and many other countries. We offer English presentations, other languages require translators. Short courses we also offer standard short courses for foreign groups, held in English. 4 hours will give your group an overview of environmental awareness. 1-2 hours will take your group through the exhibition with our teacher. Optimum size of a group is 10-20 people but we can accomodate up to 50 at a time. Please contact us for further information. ![]()

In supporting this initiative, Malmö undertakes to go far beyond the EU's energy target of reducing CO2-emissions by 20% by 2020. Ekocentrum opened in Sege Park in Malmö in November 2009 and will be a new node of knowledge and inspiration for groups of employees, organisations and teachers in the south Swedish region Skåne. Ekocentrum combines a holistic view and best-practice solutions in the short courses, study tours and seminars.
